The Hamlin theatre room

Do you enjoy a good story? How about one presented on stage? Hamburg, this city of millions, offers opportunities to see plays in English as well!  Here are three permanent fixtures which offer a way to do this.

The English Theatre
Founded in 1976, the English Theatre presents a variety of plays of all genres. All plays are presented in the original English. A season at the English Theatre runs from September to June, usually with three or four plays in that time.

The Hamburg Players
The Hamburg Players e.V. was founded in 1965. The English-language amateur theatre group presents three plays a year chosen from different English-speaking countries.

University Players
The University players Hamburg are an amateur theatre group founded in 1980 at Hamburg University. With two plays a year the group transforms the Audimax into a theatre and impresses the audience with creative realizations of classic and modern plays.

In addition, the Savoy cinema offers several screenings each year of performances from English-language theatres. These are not live performances, but another great way to see more plays. Be sure to stay informed of their showings!
